About

ika. Used to go by ilghar_kus. SRE working in fintech infrastructure somewhere.

Ended up in computer science mostly by accident and mostly by curiosity. Spent a good chunk of university going deep into the UNIX rabbit hole — the kind of deep where you’re reading mailing list archives from the 90s and have opinions about init systems. That period produced some useful knowledge and some opinions I’ve since revised.

I spent most of my student years as the kind of person who had strong opinions about operating systems and text editors. That phase is mostly over. I still know my way around a terminal, but I use whatever works now — which turns out to be roughly the same things everyone else uses. I’m not sure when exactly that shift happened, but it did, and I’m not particularly bothered by it.

The interests that stuck: how systems fail, reliability engineering, cryptography, and a slow-burning curiosity about AI that hasn’t fully resolved into anything useful yet.

I write here for the same reason I always did. I tend to forget things — not just details, but entire trains of thought — and writing is the only reliable way I’ve found to keep them. These notes are mostly for future-me, but if they’re useful to someone else, that’s a bonus.
